But the bottom line is that tights should be worn with something over them, completely covering your bottom. You should treat them as though you aren’t wearing anything under the dress, shorts, etc. How can you tell if they are tights and not leggings? One way is the materials used, tights generally have nylon, polyester and/or spandex. They also generally have a darker waist band than the leg section of them, usually indicating a control top but not always. Tights can be worn for warmth and/or style. They can spice up any outfit and make it bearable to wear a fabulous dress in the winter…or even cover up the lack of tan because your airbrush tan isn’t fresh! So many options, they just must all include coverage!

They can come out on top! Leggings are thicker and generally not see through, but be careful ladies, sometimes thin or inexpensive ones are. As long as you can put your hand in the leggings, stretch them out and not see your hand through them-you are free to wear them however you see fit! You can cover the whole bottom or just to the shelf of the bottom. You can wear them with a sweater, sweater dress, button down, tunic, boots, flats, heels, dress them up, dress them down; they are so versatile and comfortable they are as we say “BTE” (Best Thing Ever). Be adventurous and make them your own! My favorite pair currently are the Topshop Ponte Leggings (featured third in maroon), I have two pair and so do most people I know-they are thicker and hold everything in very well but are still very comfortable.
Let me know your thoughts on tights and leggings or anything else for that matter! I would love to hear some tights or leggings stories as well.
