Comfort in Confidence

I am one of three girls and growing up, in order to get us to let her do our hair, etc. my Mom always said “it hurts to be beautiful”.  She now says if she could take those words back, she would.  I say she shouldn’t.  It does hurt sometimes, waxing isn’t fun, heels can hurt, control top isn’t on the top of everyone’s list but it is what we do to look and feel good!  The good news is that those items are short lived with long lasting results.  Clients often tell me, “I just want to be “comfortable“.  Comfort or being comfortable can mean different things to different people.  To me, I am not comfortable unless and I am confident.  This does not mean that I cannot be confident in a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and flats it just all depends on the occasion and where I am going.  For Saturday brunch with my honey, sometimes I throw my hair in a bun and throw this on:

But sometimes I am comfortable in this:

Often people think that to be comfortable you have to wear this:

And while that is comfortable, there are many other more flattering items that are comfortable as well!  I hope my Mom doesn’t mind that I keep referencing her in this post, but she had an aha! moment at Nordstrom the other day; she was trying on an blazer that had feaux leather sleeves and she said “this is so comfortable, I love it” and all on her own (you could see the light bulb go off) she said “there is no reason I can’t wear this to the movies and such as oppose to a sweatshirt”.  I wanted to cry I was so happy, that is what I am talking about, give it a chance because cute can be comfortable!

The point is, if you feel and look good, you can be comfortable in just about anything; pop two Advil (so your feet don’t hurt) and call me in the morning (to tell me about all of the compliments you received on how beautiful you looked) and let me know if that isn’t comfortable!  But don’t get me wrong, I stick by the fact that you can be comfortable and confident in jeans and a t-shirt as well.  Sometimes it just hurts to be beautiful…and sometimes your most beautiful days are in jeans, a white t-shirt, stud earrings and flats.  Just wear whatever it is with confidence and you will be comfortable!
