Down The Runway Aisle: Spring 2014 Bridal Trends

I recently had the pleasure of guest blogging for my client and friend, Michele Schwartz for The Modern Jewish Wedding, you can see the blog here or below.  Thank you Michele, for inviting me to guest blog, it was a lot of fun!

Though Fall is just now upon us and we are all gazing towards the Holiday Season, Spring will be here in a short 6.5 months.  It is fitting that we are just coming off of Spring 2014 Bridal Fashion Week because Spring brides are in full  swing planning mode by now.  Brides have been dreaming about their wedding dress since they were little girls and the runway has provided some incredible inspiration for them to say “yes”.  There are 5 trends that were in abundance on the runways for Spring Bridal 2014, I may just need to have another wedding so I can wear a few of these gorgeous looks!

Lace & Appliques:  This look has been saved for the traditional bride in the past and while this is not a new trend, it has definitely been elevated!  This classic look has been taken to a new, updated level by incorporating new trends and reinventing the original ones.  Lace and appliques are now a look the majority of brides can relate to.

Back to Back:  If you want to make an impression from all angles down the aisle, a dramatic back as shown on the runways will ensure you do just that!

Going to Great Lengths: So long are the days of having to have a lengthy train on your wedding dress.   Tea length and cocktail dresses are not just for tea parties and cocktail events anymore, brides can show a little or a lot of leg!  If you are indecisive like me, you can have a hi-low dress to appease all of your wedding dress desires!

With this Reem Acra dress, a bride can get her princess look in an updated version with the hi-low effect. Show stopper!

Pep it Up:  Peplums have made a resurgence on the fashion scene in the past few years, it is a look that has evolved over the past 150 years.  Now, they are making their grand entrance into bridal fashion.  Everything from an understated waist line peplum to a dramatic multi-tier or cascading peplum can adorn your body down the aisle and keep your wedding guests talking for weeks to come!

This cascading Monique Lhuillier peplum is definitely for the bride who is wanting to do something completely different and not be forgotten!

That’s a Wrap:  Capes and wraps are being revived as well; they can be used to complete a look, warmth or both.  They can add color, texture and totally transform your dress so you have two different looks on your wedding day.  While Grandma’s wrap will do, you definitely have choices these days.

Oscar de la Renta may not give us function with the wrap but he definitely gives us gorgeous; along with this beautiful blush pink, WOW!

Which style is your favorite and will adorn you on your wedding day?  Can’t decide, you can always wear two, start with a traditional appliques gown and finish the night off in a flirty hi-low dress.  If you have already had that blissful day, do you want to do it all over again like me so you can wear another stunning gown?!  Ready, set, say “yes”!
